On March 17, 2015, I unlocked the door to the U.S. Bank Building office in Mattoon and opened GEFNET Computer / Internet Sales and Service, bringing the business from Alamogordo, New Mexico, home to Illinois after family matters called me home.
While many people came to know GEFNET through the Mattoon office, the story actually began in 2011 in Alamogordo. The move to Illinois marked the start of a new chapter, and for more than eleven years, the Mattoon office became the face of GEFNET throughout Central Illinois.
That little office saw thousands of computers come through its doors. It was where problems were solved, data was recovered, businesses were supported, and lifelong customer relationships were built. Along the way, GEFNET evolved from GEFNET Computer / Internet Sales and Service into GEFNET I.T. Services, but the mission never changed: provide honest, dependable technology support and treat every customer the way I’d want to be treated.
Now, that chapter comes to a close.
Effective July 31, 2026, the Mattoon office in the U.S. Bank Building is officially closed.
To everyone who trusted me over the past eleven years in Mattoon, thank you. Your loyalty, your referrals, and your support made it possible for GEFNET to grow and continue serving this community.
This isn’t goodbye. It’s simply another new chapter developing.
Today, I’m proud to continue serving Central Illinois from my new office in Sullivan, carrying forward everything I’ve built over the past fifteen years.
